Scotswoman Hilda Jamieson is 102 years old, legally blind and up until now, still skiing. The centenarian has hung up her skis at the end of this northern season for good.

With eight decades of skiing under her belt, she’s earned the time out. Hilda is a ski pioneer in Scotland. Together with her husband, she built the Glenshee Ski Centre in Aberdeenshire which today has 27 ski lifts and 36 runs.

One of her three daughters even competed for Britain in the 1968 Grenoble Winter Olympics. The skiing gene is strong in the Jamieson family as many of her grandchildren and great grandchildren have also competed for Scotland in world ski championships.

In more recent years Hilda relied on her daughters to act as skiing ‘beacons’ to guide her down the slope due to her dwindling eyesight.

We think 102 is an impressive age to ‘retire’ from your sporting discipline of choice. Do you think you will continue to ski till later in your life?
