Planning your next ski holiday, but feeling a little uninspired by the typical accommodation on offer at most ski resorts?

Look no further – whether it’s an igloo, a ‘pod’ or a tree house, we’ve gathered the most incredible and unique ski cabins available for rent across the world.

Just make sure you pack your camera.

1. Igloos at Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, Finland

The glass igloos in Kakslauttanen

Two words for you: glass igloos. If you want to make your Instagram followers jealous, it doesn’t get better than this resort in Finland, located about 15 minutes away from Finland’s northernmost ski resort Saariselkä. Choose from a glass igloo, a log cabin or a combination of the two with their Kelo-Glass igloos, which feature private saunas, fireplaces and bedrooms with glass roofs to watch the northern lights.

If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, you can also opt to sleep in a snow igloo, complete with down sleeping bags and an interior temperature of about minus three to minus six degrees.

2. Wedge Cabins at Fireside Resort, Jackson Hole

After a long day of skiing, you can cuddle up in one of the resort’s 23 Wedge Cabins – gorgeous little micro-ski cabins that cram all kinds of luxuries into one small space. Complete with kitchenettes, flatscreen TVs, fireplaces, private decks and fire pits, it’s the ultimate spot to get cozy with a significant other.

And while the one-bedroom cabins feature a king-size bed in each bedroom, you can also squeeze two more people onto the fold-out queen sofa bed in the living room.

3. Millésime at Niseko

This new ski cabin in Japan is designed to look like a set of staggered blocks, making it one of the most unique buildings you’ll find at a ski resort anywhere. With three bedrooms sleeping up to six people, panoramic views of Mt Yotei and modern-retro interior design, it’s a very cool spot to hang out and experience the famous powder skiing of Niseko. As for convenience – there’s a free daily shuttle to and from the lifts provided throughout the winter.

4. Treehouses at Snowbear Chalets, Whitefish Mountain

Treehouses at Snowbear Chalets

Who wouldn’t want to sleep in a treehouse chalet, complete with a turret retreat room where you can live out all your prince/princess dreams? Let’s not forget about the private hot tub, stone gas fireplace and outdoor deck. There are three chalets to choose from, all of which are ski-in, ski-out and sleep between six to ten people. The best part is that they’re just about brand new, having opened in June 2017 – so you can be one of the very first people to sleep in them.

5. Pod Cabins at Whitepod, Switzerland

The Pod cabins at Whitepod

Skiing holidays don’t get more unique than Whitepod, an accommodation spot in Switzerland which manages its own ski slopes. They have two lifts, 7km of slopes and six snowscoots available exclusively for guests. As for the sleeping part, you can choose from fifteen pods located in a ‘pod camp’ that’s only accessible by foot. Don’t worry – once you get there, you can expect full luxury, including king-size beds, bathrooms, wifi and some beautiful décor, including a 007-themed pod.

6. Yurt at Savoie, France

The things you find on AirBNB… including this surprisingly large yurt in France, with a 360-degree view of the surrounding mountains. Ski resorts such as Semnox, Chamonix and Courchevel are about 30-45 minutes away, or you can forget about skiing and just enjoy sledding and snowshoeing through the surrounding wilderness.

7. Crescendo at Big White Ski Resort, Canada

Go ahead and rent out this ski cabin – just make sure that you invite a whole bunch of friends along. Crescendo sleeps up to 22 people and is designed to show you a good time, with its indoor-outdoor heated pool, media room with bar and movie screen, poker table, ping pong table and pool table.

You can even control lighting, audio/video and temperature through the touch panels in each room. The best part? It’s perched right on the edge of a ski run, so it’s completely ski-in, ski-out.
