Two time Freeride World Tour champion and big mountain guru skier Crystal Wright was born and raised in Jackson Hole Wyoming after her parents moved there in the 1970s and never left.

“My heart has always been in Jackson” says Crystal who operates her own personal training and athlete fitness business in Jackson. “I can not imagine living anywhere else. I love skiing and the mountains and it has the best you can ask for in that department.”

This is her guide to Jackson Hole.

Why Jackson

I love the small town and accessibility to the mountains and outdoor activities. I opened my own business 3 years ago and I love the community of locals that live in Jackson, people are very supportive.

Best coffee

We could use another coffee shop in Jackson but I love e-leaven for coffee and hanging out.

Best après

The Mangy Moose and The Spur are my favorite two spots to apres. The moose has been there forever and is a must go to for the Apres scene. I love the food and drinks at The Spur. These are both located in Teton Village.

Best breakfast

In town The Bunnery has great breakfasts and so does e-leaven. I love the breakfast sandwich at e-leaven.

Special occasion dinner spot

I love The Granary up at Spring Creek Ranch because it has the best view in the valley and their food is also excellent. At the village I love Osteria they have a great ambiance and pizza/pasta.

Favourite event on or off the mountain

There are so may great events on the Mountain during the season. My two favorites are Dicks Ditch which is a banked slalom event and the Junior free-skiing event where the kids ages 12-18 come out and compete in extreme skiing.

Off the mountain in the end of March the mountain puts on an amazing free concert for 4 days. It celebrates the end of the season and is a great time.

Secret scenic spot

In the winter I love the top of the tram on Rendezvous mountain on cold and clear day. You can see into Idaho and the Grand Teton, it is such a beautiful spot and anyone can access it.

Secret powder stash

My favorite powder stash is the Hobacks on a powder day. Nothing compares to 2,000 or so feet of perfect pitch and open lanes of powder!

Favourite local character

I would have to go with Wild Bill he is quite the character and you will see him skiing everyday at the resort. He is close to 60 but still charges around the mountain. You can’t miss him because he has long gray hair and his always frothing at the mouth as he is smiling and charging around the mountain.

What can you get at Jackson you can’t get anywhere else in the world?

In my opinion endless long runs that are always challenging you as a skier and amazing people to share that with!

If you had to buy one thing to take back with you as a visitor to Jackson what would it be?

That is a tough question but I would take many pictures so I would never forget the time I spent in Jackson Hole!
