A mid summer snow storm turned Jackson Hole in Wyoming winter white and some locals went pond skimming.

Is this a sign of a big winter to come?

It all happened in Jackson Hole this week. First it snowed in Jackson. In July. That’s mid summer.

Then a helicopter flew lift towers for the new Teton chairlift into place. The high speed quad chairlift will service 200 acres of advanced and intermediate terrain and opens on December 19 to celebrate Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s 50th anniversary. Yes, there will be cake. Yes there will be a party.

They say all good things happen in threes. The locals at Jackson found their own patch of backcountry snow and built a pond skim of epic proportions.

Bet you want to go to Jackson Hole now don’t you?
