Snow is in the forecast for the official opening weekend with up to 15 cm predicted to fall through Saturday and Sunday. It looks like the snow is arriving right on cue and will ensure a great start to the 2016 winter season in Australia’s favourite ski resort.

To celebrate of this year’s opening weekend, Perisher will kick off by hosting more than 30 international and home-grown bands for the Peak Music Festival. The Festival will run from across the entire weekend with over 120 performances including acts like Ngaiire, indie siblings Tinpan Orange, Maori musician Matiu Te Huki and hip hop outfit REMI. Perisher will offer beginner skiing and boarding on Front Valley, with the magic carpet, Front Valley rope tow and plenty of snow play and tobogganing on offer. The Perisher Quad Express will be open for foot passengers from Saturday and Sunday, with the PlayStation Slopestyle Mini Park will be open for guests to play around in and enjoy.

With snow in the forecast and snowmaking operating at every opportunity, it won’t be long until additional lifts and terrain are open for skiers and boarders.

Richard Phillips, Perisher Sales & Marketing Manager said “The opening weekend is an exciting time to be in the mountains with the anticipation of what the season will deliver being on everyone’s minds. It’s a festive weekend with the Peak Music Festival and even more so with snow in the forecast over the next few days.”

Front Valley will light up with a massive fireworks display at 7pm on Saturday, tying in with plenty more family entertainment across the weekend. Face painting will be available for the kids and there will be appearances from the ultimate snow clown, Dan Druff.
