As Freedom Fest draws to a close, Squaw Valley looks forward to more skiing and riding next Saturday, July 8, marking the first time ever that the resort has operated beyond July 4.

With a six-foot base of snow on the upper mountain, the resort is committed to running as deep into the summer season as possible and is the only resort in Tahoe still offering skiing and riding. Lift offerings and operations beyond July 8 will be determined as conditions allow.

728 inches (18.5m) of snow fell at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows this winter, equaling over 60 feet . 10 Atmospheric River weather events hit the resort, where the average season sees two to four. The California Department of Water Resources declared the 2016-17 water year the wettest on record, just over half way through the water year (October 2016-October 2017).

January 2017 at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows broke the resort’s record for most snow in one month, with 282 inches (7.15m), followed by the snowiest February ever with another 196 inches (4.9m).
