As COVID-19 restrictions ease, one alpine resort is implementing hi-tech new processes and practices to ensure their customers can safely visit in accordance with state and federal regulations.

Visitors to the resort will receive an SMS notification to generate a streamlined QR code registration process on arrival in resort. The new technology will eventually extend to some dining venues making registration, and important contact tracing, simple and effective.

Under Federal and State Government Coronavirus (Covid-19) Health regulations everyone entering alpine resorts are required to provide their name and phone number when they enter, as well as when they visit a restaurant or cafe. This information can then be used by the relevant authorities to trace and respond to outbreak clusters in a coordinated way.

Mt Buller is utilising local communications workflow platform Whispir (ASX: WSP) to automate and simplify the management of customer contact details, which need to be provided when entering and exiting the resort, as well as when customers visit some on-mountain restaurants or cafés.

Whispir is a leading software-as-a-service communications workflow platform that automates interactions between organisations and people. Using Whispir’s platform and visitor registration data, individuals are sent a unique QR code to their mobile phone which contains all the relevant information and is scanned on entry to the resorts.

Whispir’s platform will also enable health authorities to be informed of exactly how many people are at the resort, as well as provide a communications system for visitors to be instantly contacted if needed.

“We are using Whispir to create a digital visitor record and eliminate the need for visitors to manually record all their details at the resort entrance gate and at food and beverage venues within the resorts” says Mt Buller Mt Stirling Resort Management Board CEO, Mark Bennetts.

“It means people won’t be asked to handle pens or clip boards that have been used by multiple people, which is a potential health risk.”

A real differentiator for Whispir is its software easily integrates with existing IT systems and is designed to be used without IT expertise. It is easy to adopt, modify and during COVID-19 has often been implemented in less than a day.

The information collected also meets all compliance and security protocols and is fully auditable. Should a spot outbreak occur in a geographic area information can be securely provided to health authorities on who has been in the vicinity and when, as well as other personal information.

This can then be efficiently cross-checked with other organisations and government departments to enable coordinated contact tracing and remedial actions to occur.
