Love planes in a slightly obsessive way? Then you will love this hotel near Haneda Airport in Tokyo.

The Haneda Excel Hotel is opening the doors on their Superior Cockpit Room on July 18. The room comes complete with a 10 million yen (AU$132 000) flight simulator so you can virtually take off from your room.

Though, in true Planet Japan style, you can sleep but not touch. Book the twin room and stare longingly at the cockpit that takes up such impressive space because, because according to ‘the rules’ you’re not allowed to sit in it without an instructor.

So you’ll need to book the Simulator Experience (90 minutes) separately for 30 000 yen (AUD$390). Hand your money over and, with an instructor, take the wheel of a Boeing 737-800 as you take off from a simulated Haneda Airport and land at Osaka’s Itami airport.

The pun inviting Superior Cockpit Room costs 25 300 yen (AUD$307)  for the night and is set up twin style so you can bring a co-pilot.
