Hold your breath, cross your fingers and click your heels three times, Qantas has reopened international flight bookings from July. If all goes according to their booking plan then we could be cross checking doors mid year.

Say what? We know, right? Please say it is so.

At this stage flights to the UK and USA are on the booking cards, though New York and Chicago are off the list, for now. If you’re looking for Japan for next ski season then you’re also in luck.

Flights to Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Singapore, San Francisco, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Dallas are all on offer dependent on your departure city in Australia. Even London and Johannesburg are on the list.

Of course it’s all down to Federal Government border controls and the current travel ban and vaccine roll out, but it is definitely looking promising. Qantas head Alan Joyce has previously flagged proof of vaccination before boarding.

With 2021 now five days in, expect to be flooded with package deals for next northern ski season in North America, Japan and beyond. If you can’t wait or hedge your bets that long, then New Zealand is still on the cards.

For now.
