China hasn’t let it’s lack of viable snow covered ski mountains prevent it from hosting the 2022 Winter Olympics. The country is now working hard on converting it’s people to snow sports before the games begin with the world’s largest indoor ski and snow park set for Shanghai.

Wintastar Shanghai Indoor Ski and Snow Park is an integrated entertainment complex is designed by Mercurio Design Lab with a European alpine feel and 227 000 square metres including the 90 000 square metre Ski and Snow Park.

The longest ski run will be 3 kilometers and will be considered a Winter Olympic training ground.

There’s even a ski in ski out hotel with après ski. Uh, ok. But wait, there’s more. Four hotels will feature in the complex including an Ice Hotel.

The ‘theme park’ is partnering with the company behind Ski Dubai and Ski Egypt. The same company currently developing Ski Audi and Ski Oman.

Wintastar Shanghai comes off the back of the Harbin Wanda Indoor Ski and Winter Sports Resort which also opened in China last year. It currently boasts the largest indoor ski facility and is yet another snow attraction in a bid to have 300 million local skiers and snowboarders by 2022.

Word is that China is hoping to build literally hundreds of new man made snow outdoor resorts in the next four years.
