New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has closed the trans Tasman bubble for at least eight weeks from 11.59pm tonight.

Quarantine free travel between Australia and New Zealand will be paused in light of Australia’s current Delta variant lockdowns.

There will be flights to New Zealand from Australia for Kiwis wishing to come home in the next seven days.

This impacts the New Zealand ski industry and Australian ski wholesalers and travel agents for the second year running with the bubble burst until at least September 17 and Australian skiers and snowboarders now having to cancel their travel plans.

Meanwhile in Australia the Victorian ski fields remain closed due to lockdown until at least July 27 and New South Wales ski fields remain open for regional New South Wales and the ACT.
