The tourist leave zone for Snowy Monaro has been extended to Jindabyne, Crackenback, Adaminaby, and Cabramurra as dangerous bushfire conditions are forecast for this Saturday.

The New South Wales Rural Fire Service advises a widespread extreme Fire Danger is forecast for Snowy Monaro this Saturday 4 January 2020. 

These will be dangerous conditions, the same or worse than New Year’s Eve.

For tourist in the region, if you are holidaying in the Snowy Monaro Region, particularly in the areas identified on the map below, you need to leave before Saturday. If you are planning to visit the Snowy Monaro region this weekend, it is not safe.

Do not be in this area on Saturday.

Residents within this area should be aware and prepare for the worsening fire conditions on Saturday.

Batlow residents have also been told their town is undefendable and to leave now.

Community meetings are being held tomorrow in the region to advise on fire safety.

Businesses in the tourist region of Jindabyne have begun shutting down in preparation for Saturday’s extreme fire danger.

Lake Crackenback Resort and Spa posted this on their Facebook page.

Wildbrumby Schnapps Distillery have served customers for 16 years and are closing today due to the fire danger. 

Local design store, Design and Detail has also closed this morning.
