Snow Sports NZ has today launched the Mountain Women | Hine Tapuhipuhi website aimed at supporting the development of female snow sports athletes.
Funded by Sport NZ through their Strengthen and Adapt project, the Mountain Women website is the first major release from Snow Sports NZ in implementing their Women and Girls strategy.
In direct response to feedback from female snow sports athletes provided through last year’s survey, the website provides simple, practical resources to give women and girls the knowledge and skills they need to take their training to the next level.
Developed by leading industry experts and covering Female Athlete Health, Nutrition, Strength and Conditioning as well as Mental Skills, these resources will help female athletes train safer, smarter and better and will also help them get the most out of life beyond sport.
It’s all a part of Snow Sports NZ’s mission to better support women and girls and help make snow sports a place where they’re celebrated and supported to thrive.
“We’re stoked to launch these resources as we gear up for the winter season. Being able to bring experts together to respond so directly to what our female athletes told us they wanted, has been brilliant.” explained Snow Sports NZ Project Manager Louise Johnson.
Snow Sports NZ, in collaboration with key stakeholders, conducted in-depth research into the most impactful ways to support women and girls in snow sports. Mountain Women was co-designed with stakeholders and athletes to address the opportunities identified to enhance the female snow sports athlete experience.
The next step in Mountain Women will see Snow Sports NZ develop and share a snow sports athlete skills profile so all athletes, their families and coaches know what to focus on to progress.
