The countdown is on for Perisher’s new $26m Mt Perisher 6 chairlift launch this winter and to celebrate the crew are turning an inner city bus stop on a key Sydney commute into a six seater chair.
It’s all to drive home (see what we did there) the message that the commute to the top of Mt Perisher will take less time, meaning more laps this ski season. Travel time up the mountain will almost halve with the new Mt Perisher chair from 10 minutes to 5.5 minutes and with 17 fewer towers on the ride down, there’s more terrain on offer on the way down.
It’s also designed to help redistribute skiers and snowboarders across Perisher’s 44 lifts and four resort areas, improving the overall circulation of guests and easing congestion across the network.
“This upgrade means less time waiting on the chair and more time exploring your favourite terrain from Australia’s highest lifted point, with quicker access to Mt Perisher’s iconic runs,” said Butterworth.
“It’s about creating amazing moments for our guests in the incredible alpine environment that we are lucky to live, play and work in.”
The bus-chairlift-stop
The Mt Perisher bus stop on Enmore Road at Newtown Station launches on Monday, May 5 and is hanging around (see what we did there, again) until May 18.
Commuters (and non-commuters) will have the chance to win one of 33 (the number of days until ski season) single-day lift tickets on the first day of the activation. Commuters at the bus stop tomorrow can also indulge in free cinnamon donuts akin to the Perisher Skitube donuts.
But wait there’s more.
Show up at the bus stop during the activation and snap a selfie and you can also be in with a chance to win a ski/snowboard holiday at Perisher for four people this September – accomodation, lift tickets, group lessons, rental gear, skitube tickets and more. If you can’t make it to Newtown there are ways you can enter too, all the info here.
