Wax up your spring skis, people, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows are staying open until July 7, thanks to record snowfalls.

The California resort will be open Friday through Sunday after Memorial Day on May 27. Alpine Meadows will operate into the month of May, with a schedule dependent on weather, conditions and the construction of the new high-speed chair lift that will replace Hot Wheels.

The resort has seen 596 inches (14.9 metres) the season, with 315 inches (7.87 metres) falling in February alone. The resort broke its own record for most snowfall in one month, set in January 2017 with 282 inches (7 metres).

The latest Squaw Valley has stayed open previously is July 15 in 2017. Squaw is not the only one extending, Mammoth announced a July 4 extension and Tahoe resorts Northstar, Heavenly and Kirkwood have all extended their seasons by a week.
