Thredbo’s development plans revealed in DA application

If you love to perve at real estate off the plan, are known to deliberately drive by new developments and get excited by an artist’s renders then Thredbo’s DA plans will have you all a quiver.

We already know that Thredbo has plans for a new Merritts Mountain House and that 8 person gondola that has the ski world talking. Now you can have a peak at what it’s going to look like. Hint, pretty cool.

The DA plans have been submitted and are available for public perving on the New South Wales Planning and Environment website where they sit waiting for challenge or approval. And where you can take a guernsey at a ‘new look’ Thredbo. We’ve chosen our favourite renders but you can also check them out in more detail on the NSW site.

The resort has six submissions including a new Thredboland building, a refurb of the Thredbo Alpine Hotel pool area (hint, there’s no pool) and an entire new Merritts Mountain House building at the top of the proposed gondola.

This is how the proposed new Merritts restaurant would be laid out.

Kids ski school and day care, Thredboland, is also up for a redevelopment

Ever noticed how few people use the Thredbo Alpine Hotel pool and how more people favour the hot tub? The resort has plans to upgrade the favourite après area with a refurbishment of the poolside terrace. The pool will be filled in and covered, Japanese hot tubs will be strategically placed and the area will feature extensive seating in various formations and a ‘stage area’ for live entertainment and DJs.

These developments will bring a new contemporary look to the mountain with significant upgrades. We’re picturing a Justin Hemmes style après garden that will have the Sydney set dancing on tables.
