World first heli ski wellness retreat

New Zealand’s luxury Aro-Ha Wellness Retreat on the shores of Lake Wakatipu in Glenorchy just upped the heli ski ante this southern winter by introducing two heli ski weeks for the true ski and snowboard devotees looking to get the maximum out of every run.

You won’t find any whiskey on the top shelf here at the end of a day heli skiing fresh virgin powder deep in the Southern Alps. But you will find nutrient packed liquids for those who like their smoothies green. And you’ll be able to reach the top shelf without pulling your back out thanks to all that morning yoga keeping you flexible.

If you’ve ever been blessed enough by the cash cow to experience time at a heli ski lodge then you know the dreaded ‘heli belly’. A term used to describe the paunch some folk build over a week of serious ski, booze and food indulgence. Let’s just say you go home smiling, but exhausted.

Looks like Aro-Ha have addressed that first world problem with an organic cleansing cuisine menu designed to both fuel and detox and flow morning yoga with restorative yoga at the end of the day. On down days you won’t be lounging around the lodge either, up and at ’em with mountain hikes, pilates, cooking classes, wellness lectures, fresh mountain air and an open fire.

Aro-Ha Private Eco-Suite King

Why didn’t I think of this? A health retreat surrounded by mountains on the shores of a lake, luxury accommodation, open fire lodge with lake views, sauna, hot tub, daily massage and only ten people for serious small group heli skiing with heli pick up out the front door.  I am sure I have dreamt about it.

How much you ask?

A seven day heli ski retreat (August 8 – 14) will set you back NZ$9975 per person all inclusive including four heli ski days.

A five day heli ski retreat (September 6 – 10) will set you back NZ$5725 per person all inclusive including two heli ski days.
