The USA’s tariffs on Canadian products will kick on this Wednesday and heating up President Trump’s trade war. These Canadian ski resorts are hitting back with discounted lift passes on the day the tariffs come into play.
Banff’s Mt Norquay in Alberta was the first to announce lift tickets will be CAD$18.67 on Wednesday this week to “celebrate Canadian pride.”
Why $18.67? Because that’s the year Canada became a self-governing nation.
It’s a significant discount of over $100 as Norquay’s ticket window price is usually $119. The resort is encouraging guests to come in their Canadian attire on the day.
Apex and Big White in British Columbia have both joined Norquay in the campaign.
On Wednesday, April 2nd all single day lift tickets (for April 2nd) are $18.67 — a historic price celebrating the sovereignty of Canada (available exclusively at the Ticket Office in the Village Centre Mall). To mark the occasion, you can also grab one of our iconic Big White toques, made right here in Canada, for just $18.67.
Limit 2 toques per guest (available at on mountain retail plus the Kelowna office, 1894 Ambrosi rd) — while supplies last! Big White is proudly Canadian-owned and locally operated — and there’s no better time to come together and celebrate the True North, strong and free.

The resort will be using funds to support local community causes.
“As a Canadian resort owned and operated in British Columbia we’re taking this opportunity to remind every one of the Confederation of Canada in 1867. The true north strong and free,” Big White president and CEO Peter Plimmer said.
“We’re doing this on a day when many Canadians may be feeling concern for the future as the USA’s tariffs take effect, and we’ll use these funds raised to support local causes in our community.”
