In tragic news, a 22 year old man died at Perisher ski resort in New South Wales this afternoon in an accident in the advanced slope style terrain park.

The terrain park is considered one of the southern hemisphere’s best and is utilised by the world’s top athletes for slope style training and offers jumps from 4m to 9m.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 2.30pm with a helicopter and multiple ambulances, however the snowboarder succumbed to his injuries.

Front Valley was closed to skiers and snowboarders after the incident as paramedics treated the man.

The death has rocked the local community and ski and snowboard industry. A report is being prepared by the coroner.

Perisher’s VP and General Manager, Nathan Butterworth extended the resorts’s “deepest sympathy and support to our guest’s family and friends including Perisher Ski Patrol members who responded to the accident.”
