Victoria Police are advising skiers and snowboarders travelling to Falls Creek or Mount Hotham via Bright to avoid travelling through Porepounkah as the search for armed offender, Desmond Freeman (Filby), continues.
They suggest travelling via Running Creek and Mount Beauty as an alternative as specialist police continue their extensive search for Desmond Freeman, in connection to the shooting death of two on duty police officers during an incident in Porepunkah on Tuesday.
Police attended the property on Rayner Track shortly after 10.30am on Tuesday, 26 August. Two officers were fatally shot and a third was seriously injured after being shot in the lower body.
No other officers were physically injured. Desmond Filby, who is armed and dangerous, was last sighted by police fleeing on foot into the bush from the Raynor Track property shortly after 10.30am, on Tuesday, 26 August.
If you see Desmond, call 000 immediately but do not approach him.
