New South Wales Health has today revealed fragments of COVID-19 virus have been found in sewage treatment plants in Thredbo.

The Deputy Premier, John Barilaro, revealed the find at today’s 11.00am press conference with State Premier Gladys Berejiklian.

Regional New South Wales is currently in lockdown until September 10 with an announcement expected next week as to which LGAs will be kept in an extended lockdown and which will have restrictions lifted.

There are no current cases of Covid-19 in the Snowy Monaro region, though fragments were also detected in Cooma sewage on two separate testing days last week.

Residents of the Snowy Monaro LGA, especially Thredbo and nearby Jindabyne, are encouraged to get tested for the virus.

Australia’s ski resorts in both Victoria and New South Wales are currently in lockdown with some hope of opening mid September for a short period of end of season spring skiing.
