New South Wales Police have revealed in a statement today that a 73 year old man has died while skiing at Thredbo.

“About 12.30pm (Thursday 27 July), police have been told a 73-year-old man was skiing when he struck a pole on the edge of the ski run,” said NSW police in the statement.

“Other skiers commenced CPR prior to the arrival of medical staff, however he died at the scene.

Officers from Monaro Police District have established a crime scene and will conduct inquiries into the incident.

Police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.”

Thredbo Ski Patrol attended the scene and are working with police.

The ski resort extends “its heartfelt condolences to his family and friends”.
