Every skier and snowboarder knows that life on the slopes is more fun with friends. But at a time where everything is more expensive than ever, it’s not always easy to convince your mates to fork out the cash for lift tickets and ski gear.

The North Face is here to change that and get more people out on the mountain this winter.

Thanks to a new giveaway in collaboration with Snowsbest/MissSnowItAll, you and a companion can dive into the world of winter sports and make some all-new core memories together.

Five winners will be picked each month, winning two lift tickets to their preferred resort – whether it’s the renowned mighty slopes of Thredbo in Australia or the picture-perfect Cardrona in New Zealand – plus $500 worth of gear to enhance their winter sports experience.

There are a total of 30 lift tickets and $7500 worth of gear up for grabs from the The North Face.

How to be in it to win it

Mark your calendars for the First Friday of every month this winter. All you have to do is be following @misssnowitall and @thenorthface_aunz on Instagram. Find the competition post each First Friday in June, July and August and tag a friend in the comments who you’d like to take along to the slopes.

You can enter as many times as you like, but you must tag one person per comment to enter. There will be five winners announced each month. You’ll find all the terms and conditions here.

It all kicks off on Friday June 7, so get following those Instagram pages.

Lucky winners will nab themselves a $500 The North Face voucher (plus the lift passes) to spend on any product, including the inclusive Lift collection, inspired by The North Face team riders, Erik Leon and Jess Kimura.

Jess Kimura has become one of the most influential snowboarders of the last decade, and is passionate about hosting grassroots events that support young female snowboarders, and opening up about her life experiences to inspire others to do the same – such as her injuries and battle with mental illness.

Erik Leon hails from the desert hills of Riverside, California and found his calling in snowboarding at the age of 11. His mission is to bring awareness to marginalised communities and lower barriers so they can break into the outdoor sports. He  has a side hustle in CORE (Community Outreach Riding Equipment), where he partners with his sponsors to create signature products that are more affordable and sustainable.

Erik and Jess are not only at the top of the snowboarding game, they’re working hard to make the snowsports community more inclusive.

As a result, the Lift Collection is focused on accessibility through affordability, and offered at the lowest price point in The North Face snow range – all without compromising on the quality you know and love.

The Build Up Jacket is just $375 AUD/$425 NZD, while the Build Up Pant is $275 AUD/$325 NZD. They’re both available in sizes from XS to XXL for men’s and women’s, and in two prints: TNF Black and the all-new, community-inspired In Hands Print, available from July 2, 2024.

The jacket is crafted with a waterproof, breathable DryVentTM 2L shell, with a helmet-compatible hood, covered secure-zip hand pockets, and a powder skirt to keep the snow out. The pants feature an elastic waistband, articulated knees for unrestricted movement, and an adjustable snap closure at the hem – everything you need for peak performance and comfort on the mountain.

There’s also the Tekno Pullover Hoodie for men and women, coming in at $270 AUD/$300 NZD. This water-resistant, smooth-face hoodie shields you against the elements for all-day comfort on the slopes, making it perfect as a mid-layer or as your top layer on those bluebird spring riding days.

Exploring the resorts

With the First Fridays competition, winners get the opportunity to choose their adventure – will you head to the Australian snow slopes with your mate, or try out what New Zealand has to offer?

If choosing Australia, you’ll enjoy Thredbo Resort, awarded Australia’s Best Ski Resort for seven consecutive years and home to Australia’s 5.9km Super Trail, the country’s only 22 foot halfpipe and the southern hemisphere’s first alpine coaster. Or over in Aotearoa, Cardrona Alpine Resort stands out as New Zealand’s favourite ski area, known for big skies, pristine slopes and a Mecca for global athletes who come here to train.

Inspired by the inclusivity of it all? Click here to find out more about First Fridays and get ready to enter from Friday June 7, 2024.
