Australia’s Jarryd Hughes has won silver in the men’s snowboard cross in PyeongChang, after Pierre Vaultier of France with gold and Spain’s Regino Hernández in bronze position.

Jarryd’s silver medal is the best ever result by an Australian in this event in the Olympic Games.

In a semi-final full of carnage, Jarryd, Alex and Cameron went head to head, with most of the field crashing, leaving just Jarryd and Alex on their feet to cross the line and into the finals.

Jarryd Hughes got a fantastic start in the 1/8 final, crossing the line first to qualify for the quarter finals. He held his line well in the quarter finals to put himself into the semi-finals.

Alex Pullin cruised through his finals to lock in a spot in the semi-finals.

Cameron Bolton qualified second in his 1/8 final, fought to come from behind and qualify for the semi-finals, but missed moving on to the finals. With a strapped wrist, Cameron competed in the small final in a heroic effort to claim 8th place overall.

Unfortunately, Adam Lambert crashed out of his 1/8 final. An emotional Adam said after the event that he “went a bit deep on the jump”.

More details to come from SnowsBest on the ground in PyeongChang.
