Is this the coolest yurt accommodation launching in Japan?

The lounge inside the yurt

Madarao ski resort in Nagano, Japan, will be home to a new luxe yurt this winter with the launch of Snowball Chalet’s ‘luxury suite’.

Picture two lounge areas, a designer fire place, Japanese cypress bathtub and mountain views, all within your own personal yurt.

Add a vinyl collection and your own ‘decks’ and you could be chilling to the tunes of your favourite muzak with a personal record collection of jazz, hip hop and retro.

The cosy yurt features high ceilings, comfy couches and a roaring fire. Perfect at the end of a day throwing yourself down powder hills in Madarao.

The yurt has been converted from the Shaggy Yak to a Luxury Suite.

The luxury suite evolved from the original Shaggy Yak Restaurant and Bar that launched last year in the yurt and has now moved to the restaurant district in the village.

Owners, Dan and Andy Solo from Bondi in Sydney, are the names behind Snowball Chalet, a boutique cedar lodge with nine guest rooms and now the ‘luxury suite’.
