Australia’s Sochi Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony Uniform has been revealed and after our Sochi Fashion Wars post of the world’s Olympic uniform fashion disasters went viral in Latvia, yes Latvia, I was hoping for something from the Australian camp to stir the pot.

But to be honest, I think this uniform is a job well done. Yes it is ‘safe’, lovers will call it classic or classy, haters will call it bland. But what we’re really excited about is the ‘formal wear’ (pics further down the blog).

Here’s the breakdown on the Opening Ceremony clobber. A white jacket and yellow beanie by Karbon, forest green jeans and belt by Sportscraft and adidas mountain boots for the footsies. Nothing offensive there.

“The Opening Ceremony uniform has a very youthful look to reflect the Team,” Australian Chef de Mission Chesterman explained at the announcement in Sochi. “It has an urban mountain resort feel that perfectly matches the combination of city and mountain locations in Sochi.”

When the Australian Team Flagbearer is named at an official reception on February 6, the Team will wear the formal uniform provided by Sportscraft: tan pants (thank god they are not yellow), a white shirt, grey knit jumper, blue silk scarf or tie, classic Blundstone boots and a bottle green blazer lined with the names of 198 Australian winter Olympians. And a cool looking scarf that we’d be proud to wear on any day.
