Snow trips are about to get a whole lot easier, with the popular Snowy Mountains Bus Service expanding in 2026 and adding more than 800 extra services across the ski season.

Operating daily from 6 June to 4 October 2026, the service connects Cooma, Berridale and Jindabyne with Perisher, Thredbo and the Skitube at Bullocks Flat, giving skiers and snowboarders a stress-free alternative to driving alpine roads.

Season passes are now on sale, with day passes expected soon, as demand for public transport to the snowfields continues to surge.

Transport for NSW Executive Director Rob Austin said more snow travellers than ever were ditching the car in favour of buses.

“More people are choosing to leave the car at home and hop on the bus, and we’re responding with even more services this season,” Mr Austin said.

“Driving in alpine conditions can be challenging, especially for first-time snow visitors or those unfamiliar with mountain roads. The Snowy Mountains Bus Service makes getting to the slopes easy, affordable and far less stressful.”

Introduced in 2021, the service has grown rapidly in popularity, with 145,000 passenger journeys recorded last season — up from 93,000 the previous year.

To meet demand, 868 additional services have been added for 2026, along with more frequent connections between Thredbo and Perisher.

The service also includes a range of added perks for travellers, with bus tickets covering free all-day parking at The Station Resort, complimentary Park and Shuttle Bus access, and entry into Kosciuszko National Park.

Early bird discounts are now available, with 10 per cent off adult season tickets until the end of June, while half-season passes from 1 August offer savings of up to 30 per cent.

“Booking ahead not only saves money, it means you can sit back and enjoy the mountain scenery while someone else handles the driving,” Mr Austin said.

Visitors can also connect to the Snowy Mountains region via the NSW TrainLink network, with daily rail services between Sydney and Canberra, plus coach connections to Cooma and Jindabyne.

Passengers can track both Snowy Mountains Bus and NSW TrainLink services in real time through the Trip Planner website, the Opal Travel app and selected third-party apps.

With hundreds of extra transport services operating this winter, visitors are being encouraged to plan ahead, book early and avoid the hassle of driving where possible.
