Do Better Colab, a New Zealand based brand with Aussie roots, launched what could be the world’s first performance ski sock made from organic cotton.

Designed specifically for those who care about what goes on their feet and what goes into the environment, their socks offer a natural fibre alternative to the usual synthetic or wool options on the market.

Jen Quante, Aussie turned Kiwi resident and Founder of Do Better Colab, says the idea came after searching for the perfect snowboarding sock.

“I saw a gap. I was looking for a natural fibre ski sock that wasn’t wool, but still held up in cold weather, had the right tech and felt good in a boot. I couldn’t find any – so I decided to make them.”

This wasn’t a one and done design job. The final sock range is the result of over two years of development, with countless rounds of testing different fibre blends and structural tweaks.

Each version was tested in the mountains of New Zealand, worn in ski boots, stuffed into hiking shoes, and put through muddy trail missions to make sure they didn’t just feel good, but were tough enough for real-world use.

“These aren’t your average “eco” socks,” says Quante. “They’re packed with technical features built for adventure.”

Do Better Colab socks feature targeted compression, extra cushioning where it counts, a stay-put fit that doesn’t bunch or slide and breathable construction. Made using GOTS-certified organic cotton, blended with a small amount of stretch yarns for durability and performance.

The socks come in compostable or recyclable packaging, and the brand makes all its decisions with long-term impact in mind – from factory partners to fibre choices to how they ship.

“We’re not trying to change the world with a sock,” laughs Quante. “But if we can give people a better option – something that performs and aligns with their values, then that’s a good start.”

While they were originally made for skiing and snowboarding, the range has expanded with crew and ankle socks, making them a multi-activity and lifestyle favourite.

If you’re into good gear that does a bit of good too – these might just be your new go-to socks this ski season.
