Perisher Skitube gets mural makeover by two artists

Ye olde ski tube has seen some days hauling a gazillion skiers and snowboarders and their offspring from Bullocks Flat up to Perisher, Blue Cow and the like.

This season it looks a little different.

The exterior of two carriages has undergone a colourful refurb thanks to two artists.

Artist Mike Shankster grew up in the Perisher Valley and has teamed up with Ukranian artist Arina Apostolova to adorn two Skitube alpine railway carriages with a mural inspired by native fauna.

Apostolova is trained as a professional architect and has turned her hand to canvas paintings and large scale murals in Ukraine, China and Australia.

Look out for the coloured carriages this winter ski season.
