Selwyn Snow Resort closes early due to 2023 snow conditions

You have to feel for Selwyn Snow Resort. This was mean to be their year. Re-opening for the first time after being burnt to the ground in the 2019/2020 bushfires, then delayed by Covid then delayed in 2022 by snow conditions.

Now, this year of re-opening has ended early after one of the most challenging snow seasons in decades.

“Despite our best efforts, a combination of fewer natural snowfalls, heavy rain events and warmer nights preventing snowmaking mean unfavourable weather conditions have brought Selwyn’s 2023 snow season to an end,” declared the resort today.

“The decision to close for the season was not made lightly, but the safety and enjoyment of our visitors has always been our top priority and the current conditions do not allow for that. We can’t wait to welcome you back for what we hope is a bumper snow season in 2024!”

Bring on 2024, we say.
