You could buy this Montana ski resort

Got a spare US$2.95 mill in petty cash? Love to ski and snowboard? Then have I got a deal for you.

Hot of the heels of recent resorts up for grabs, also in Montana and that cat skiing oasis in Colorado last year, comes the sale of Marshall Mountain.

Marshall Mountain boasts 156 acres, 1936 vertical feet (590 meters) some ski lifts and a lodge on private land deep in the heart of the Rattlesnake Mountains and close to the town of Missoula in Montana. The ski resort hasn’t operated as a ski resort since 2003 but the infrastructure, snow making and chairlifts are still in place and ready to go.

Back in the day in the 1930s the bowl was used for back country skiing. In 1937 a rope tow made from motor cycle parts was put in. By 1950 there were two rope tows and a three day a week skiing schedule. In 1959 a third rope tow was added, new runs in 1960, fourth tow by 1961, a poma lift in 1965, a t-bar in 1969, a triple chairlift in 1972. They even ran night skiing by kerosene flames in the 1950s.
