Do Australians really prefer winter to summer?

Thredbo, Australia.

A recent Thredbo commissioned survey reveals forty percent of Aussies are loving winter over summer. Do you agree?

The 2016 National Winter Report (last released in 2014) reveals some surprising statistics about the beach loving Australian’s weather and holiday preferences.

According to the Thredbo commissioned survey, 41 percent of the Australian population have enjoyed a snow holiday at least once in their lives and 54 percent of those folk are planning to go back. The report also saw an increase in Aussies preferring summer over winter, up from 25 percent in 2014 to 40 percent in 2016.

“The results from the 2016 National Winter Report are really interesting,” said Angus Thomson, Thredbo Director of Brand Development. “It’s exciting to see the growing number of Australians loving the cool, crisp winter over the hotter summer months, and there’s no better way to embrace the winter season than to experience the real thing on a snow holiday”.

Weather patterns in Australia have been all over the place in recent years from devastating cyclonic style storms in Sydney ripping beachside swimming pools from their place and depositing them in the sea to a 90 centimetre June snow storm in Thredbo that saw snow even hit Queensland and temperatures in autumn across Australia were above average throughout.

So, given the chance, what would you choose.
