After two years of Covid disruptions, Australia’s ski fields are having a bumper pre-season and another two resorts have announced an early opening.

Perisher was first, then Mt Buller, now Falls Creek and Hotham will both be open early after the snow storm this week that’s already dumped over 40cms with even more on the way.

The resorts announced the new opening date this evening.

Falls Creek Resort Management Board has declared the snow season open from Saturday, June 4th 2022.  To activate any discount on resort entry costs this weekend payment will only be available at the gate at the Howman’s Gap Ticket Box.

Season Permit holders will be contacted separately via email tomorrow on how and where to collect your permit this weekend if you have not already received it.

Falls Creek Ski Lifts are planning to have Halleys Comet and Towers Quad chairlifts spinning from Saturday June 4. Lift tickets can only be purchased online.

“The first snowfalls of winter are always a special, but this has been amazing. We are incredibly excited to be opening early this season and seeing the Falls Creek village and community deliver he special experiences we are famous for,” said Richard Phillips, Falls Creek Ski Lifts General Manager.

Hotham will also be opening on Saturday with more details to come.

Nathan Butterworth Mt Hotham Skiing Company General Manager said, It’s been a magical week here in Hotham! We’ve watched the resort transition from green to white and I’m thrilled to be able to bring the season opening forward and welcome guests back to what is very special part of Victoria”.

Now it’s over to Thredbo, Charlotte Pass and Selwyn to reveal if they’ll also open early or wait for the traditional long weekend opening.
