Snowboard halfpipe athlete, Misaki Vaughan, hit her head during halfpipe training at Livigno on Monday this week.
When assessed on the Winter Olympic site, she showed symptoms of a head injury.
She has since been ruled out of the Milano Cortina Olympics due to a failed Head Injury Assessment.
According to a statement from the Australian Olympic Committee, Australian Winter Olympic Team head injury protocols were followed – including removing Vaughan from training and thoroughly assessing and monitoring her.
Under the head injury protocols, Vaughan cannot participate for a minimum of seven days.
Vaughan was informed this afternoon that she would not be competing and would be withdrawn from competition.
“My heart breaks on their behalf,” said Australian Chef de Mission Alisa Camplin.
“I know how much work goes into an Olympic dream it’s a huge emotional achievement.”
