Mt Buller will again host the exhilarating Winter Adventure Race event on Saturday 16 September, followed by an advance screening of the exhilarating film ‘Mountain’.

The Mt Buller Adventure Race is an exciting single day event that sees competitors navigate to nine different checkpoints across the Mt Buller snow fields.

Not only do contestants need to plan the best route for the fastest time, the course will see them battling up snowy mountain trails, traversing rugged stretches of alpine terrain, and descending snow-covered tracks to reach the finish line. The course can be completed on skis, snowboard, snowshoes, skins, alpine touring or split board equipment with several race categories for participants to enter, making it ideal for all alpine enthusiasts.

Gillian Dobson, Group Manager of Marketing, Sales and Events for Mt Buller Mt Stirling Resort Management says, ‘This is not your average orienteering day out; this event combines navigational know-how with fitness, making it a great way to experience the Mt Buller ski fields with a little healthy competition.’

“The Mt Buller Winter Adventure Race is a unique event on our calendar, offering a challenging and fun experience for competitors. Now in its fourth year, the event sees some tough competition with plenty of friendly rivalry so we encourage guests to take part and enjoy a great day out. Combined with the screening of ‘Mountain’ this is a must-do event for adventurers.”.

Starting and finishing at the Mt Buller Village Square, the winners will be determined based on the quickest times. A presentation ceremony will be held in the Mt Buller cinema prior to the special advance screening of ‘Mountain’, with lots of great prizes to be won. All participants receive free entry to the movie.

The Mountain film is a stunning showcase of mountain exploration produced by Australian film maker Jennifer Peedom in collaboration with the Australian Chamber Orchestra. The movie illustrates the spellbinding force of high places – and their ongoing power to shape our lives and our dreams.

Registration and further information on the Adventure Race and Mountain film can be found on the website, visit the Events Calendar at mtbuller.com.au.
