New premium economy class across the Tasman

Air New Zealand introduces Premium Economy on Tasman, Pacific Island and Bali services.

Air New Zealand’s award-winning Premium Economy will soon be available on the airline’s Tasman, Pacific Island and Bali services.

Earlier today Air New Zealand took out the award for World’s Best Premium Economy Class at the prestigious Skytrax World Airline Awards at the Paris air show. Customers can now book Premium Economy fares on all Boeing 777 and 787-9 Dreamliner operated Tasman, Pacific Island and Bali services for travel from 25 October 2015.

Air New Zealand Chief Sales and Commercial Officer Cam Wallace says although the carrier has been operating twin aisle wide body aircraft on short haul routes for some time, the mix of aircraft flying these routes has made it difficult to offer Premium Economy as a product.

“With the arrival of the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, refurbishment of our Boeing 777-200 fleet and exit of the Boeing 747-400, we now have a consistent Premium Economy offering across our twin aisle wide body fleet.

“We know many of our customers enjoy the extra space and comfort when travelling Premium Economy on our long haul services and we’re looking forward to extending this product to shorter flights,” says Mr Wallace.

Air New Zealand’s Premium Economy on Tasman, Pacific Island and Bali services is similar to its long haul product and includes a range of benefits, including greater space and premium food as well as additional baggage allowances, premium check-in and priority boarding.
