One of New Zealand’s favourite ski fields is for sale. The privately owned Ōhau Snow Fields and lakeside lodge is on the market for the first time in 33 years.

Current owners, Mike and Louise Neilson are passing the baton on this iconic snow field well loved by those who have had the good fortune to bed down in the lodge by night and hit the slopes by day.

The Lake Ōhau Lodge sits by the lake at the base of the mountain, a 20 minute drive by access road to the snow fields above. Both are found in the Mackenzie High Country between Christchurch and Wanaka not far from Aoraki/Mount Cook and the Tasman Glacier.

New owners can expect the keys to over 10 hectares of freehold land with four different styes of accommodation in Lake Ōhau Lodge and an in-house restaurant and lounge.

They will also have 145.2 hectares with a DOC concession to operate the snowfield with a double chairlift, 200 car parks, helipad and 30 snow machines. There’s a day lodge with canteen, ski hire and ski school.

The terrain is split beginner 20%, intermediate 50%, advanced 30% and well loved globally as international ski racers including The US Ski Team have all trained at Ōhau.

Opportunities exist to both renovate and expand with new luxury lodge options with lake views.

For Sale by way of International Expressions of Interest closing Thursday, 7 September at 5:00pm (NZST).
