Scotty James flagged the possibility of an X Games Thredbo in a press conference in Livigno today during the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
When SnowsBest asked what it would take to get a full size Olympic halfpipe in Australia, apart from winning gold, eight times X Games gold medallist James replied:
“Before I hang my boots up I’d love to compete in front of my country in Australia and I think it will probably most likely be through an event like X Games, which I would hope would happen.”
If anyone can make an X Games happen in Australia it would be Scotty who has a stake in the X Games global adventure sports competition as the official Strategic Advisor.
“Doing it there at Thredbo and having competition, not just for me but for Indra, Valentino and Tess, all these athletes spend so much time away from Australia to compete,” said Scotty at the media conference.
“The most rewarding thing for me in my career is to watch all of them and myself compete in front of a home crowd.
“It would be awesome. So we’ll see how we go. That’s a big, big, big rock to move up hill, but I do think it’s possible. I look forward to, hopefully, making it happen. X Games, Thredbo, yes.”
