The Patience Capital Group are holding true to their development plans to put Myoko Kogen on the year round resort map in Japan with new developments breaking ground in 2026.

The Singapore based company bought Madarao Ski Resort in 2022 and then announced in 2023 plans to spend AUD$2.2billion to create a Myoko village akin to Niseko on 350 hectares of land on Myoko Plateau.

Two years later they’ve partnered with the luxury Six Senses resorts (part of IHG Hotels) to develop mountain hotels and residences close to the slopes at Myoko Suginohara Ski Resort at the foot of Mt. Myoko, in a move bound to divide locals.

Six Senses Myoko will be part of a broader regional plan that includes four hotels and two commercial facilities by 2034. The Six Senses development announcement is hot off the
Ikon Pass announcement that Suginohara has joined the pass for the 25/26 season.
Six Senses Myoko will have a total of 57 guest rooms and suites, some with private onsen. There will also be 21 residences with the Six Senses brand on the upper floor of the hotel

Two restaurants and bars will offer seasonal menus. In addition, flagship stores, dining, wellness experiences and art programs that connect with local culture will be on offer.

Architects Kume Design, led by Kengo Kuma and Kume Sekkei, intend to “regenerate the landscape of the lost foothills and restore the terrain that is in harmony with nature”. The design named “Golden Wind” expresses the flow of sunlight and wind across the terraced rice fields across the seasons.

The Six Senses spa area will feature 8 treatment rooms, hydrotherapy and private hot springs by appointment.

Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2026.
