Less than a week into the 2015/2016 ski season, Big White Ski Resort was hit with a blizzard that delivered 46cm fresh snow to the resort in a 24-hour period from Tuesday morning to Wednesday morning.

Thanks to the amount of fresh Okanagan Champagne Powder, Big White will be opening more terrain and operating four new lifts as of this Saturday, November 21.

With a 118cm snow base, the resort has enough snow coverage to safely begin operating the Bullet Express Quad seven days per week, starting this weekend. The beginner magic carpets in Happy Valley will also begin operating full-time on Saturday, and cross-country trails will open up for the first time this season.

As a bonus to celebrate all the new snow, the Black Forest Express Quad chair will also operate this Saturday and Sunday only. It will close from Monday – Wednesday the following week before running again from Thursday onwards. The new Black Forest Day Lodge and Black Forest parking lot remain closed until the grand unveiling of the new building in early December.

To reward loyal Season’s Pass holders, a one-hour bonus has been planned for this Saturday. The Ridge, Bullet, Black Forest and Plaza chairs will spin exclusively for Season’s Pass holders from 8am – 9am.

33 runs are currently open across the mountain. Many of the runs serviced by the Bullet and Black Forest chairs will also open up to skiers and snowboarders this weekend, allowing them to explore and enjoy the fresh powder in the area.

The greatest value available to resort visitors this season is the Biggie Card, which gives British Columbia and Alberta residents access to discounted lift tickets that they can use any day this winter. The Biggie Card comes pre-loaded with the first day of skiing or riding, and cardholders can reload their card online to receive additional discounts. More details are available at http://www.bigwhite.com/card

Big White Ski Resort is open seven days per week, with most chairlifts spinning from 8:45am to 3:30pm. It was the first resort in British Columbia to open for the 2015/16 ski season.
