Whistler has one of the longest ski seasons in North America and spring time means longer sunny days of skiing on record breaking snow in 2016.

Here’s 8 reasons why you should make spring skiing at Whistler Blackcomb part of your agenda this year.

Snow, snow and more snow

Whistler Blackcomb traditionally gets over 11 metres of snow each season. The resort has already received over 6 metres and the season isn’t even half way over. The strong El Nino that has been pounding the Pacific North West is threatening to continue well into the first quarter of 2016. Did we mention that Whistler Blackcomb is the largest ski resort in North America with over 8000 acres of terrain?

Direct access from Vancouver

The resort is so easy to access with direct flights from Australia to Vancouver and then a mere two hour drive or shuttle to the ski in ski out village of Whistler Blackcomb.

World Ski and Snowboard Festival

Expect 10 days of free outdoor concerts, parties, art shows, big air competitions and, of course, plenty of skiing and riding. Combining Canada’s largest free outdoor concert series with career-making showdowns of action sports and lifestyle fashion, photography and film, the best spring snow conditions, and burn-the-candle nightlife, it’s a celebration of everything that’s core to mountain culture.

The event is April 8 – 17 and attracts some seriously impressive skiing and snowboarding talent. For more information check out their site.

GoPro Junior Freeski Challenge

Little Miss or Mister will love this three day event March 17 to 20 when 12 – 18 year olds get to shred big mountain terrain, win prizes, learn GoPro techniques and more. Check out their site for more.

Fire and Ice

Every Sunday at the base of both mountains in Whistler Village you’ll discover a free outdoor evening show with ski and snowboard big air demonstrations, fire spinners, live DJs and fireworks followed by the Afterburn Party at GLC from 8pm.

Mums Mountain Classic

This fun, annual event on April 14 is open to skiing and snowboarding mums, stepmums and grandmums of all ages. The day includes morning coffee voucher, race practice, match-time race at the GMC Race Centre, lunch with your friends and apres festivities. This year’s theme is Metallic so interpret it is as you will from shiny metal bling to hard core rock n roll.

The Canadian dollar loves the Australian dollar

The Aussie dollar is sitting parity pretty with the Canadian dollar and forecasters say it should stay that way.  That’s dollar for dollar.

It’s cheaper

Spring time means spring savings. Expect to receive up to 40% off accommodation packages and up to 25%  off lift passes during March and April. SkiMax have a Whistler Spring Sale on that you won’t want to miss from AU$1179 per person for seven nights.
