The Dinner Plain Onsen mineral water pools are back after a four year hiatus and we’re so here for it.

Ok, theoretically it’s not an onsen, the waters are not volcanic, you’re not naked and they’re not in Japan but they are mineral waters and heated and surrounded by rocks in an outside setting that can even be covered in snow. So, we’ll take it.

After a day burning the thighs on Hotham’s steeps and deeps, skiers and boarders can now soak said thighs in the outdoor mineral pool for the ultimate après relief.

Choose to spend your time in the onsen mineral pool or in the indoor spa or take a sauna, do a workout in the gym or some laps in the heated lap pool.

The Dinner Plain Onsen is a short bus ride from Hotham and also serves up massage and spa treatments from the team at Mountain Wellness Co. Book a treatment over 75 minutes and receive a complimentary 2 hour spa, sauna, onsen, pool package.

Take a friend and try the Malparara treatment for two – sauna, onsen, salt scrub, massage, bath, grazing platter. Allow four to five hours and make sure you bring your cash, you’ll need $950 for two.

Not feeling so flush? Just book a two hour onsen soak for $49 and try some hot and cold water therapy. The onsen is open until 8pm seven nights a week during peak season.

Consider this a public service announcement.
