There’s a reason Whistler Blackcomb is consistently named North America’s #1 Ski Resort. Well actually, there’s eight. Oh, all right, there’s more than eight but here are some that we love.

Snow, snow, snow and lots of it

Whistler surpassed their annual average snowfall this season just gone and they did it by March with two months still left in the season. By March 21 the resort had received almost 12 metres of snow (1177cm or 463 inches) and had a base well over three metres (339cms 133 inches).

Size matters

‘The largest ski resort in North America’ says it all. Over 8171 acres of terrain, 200 marked runs, 16 alpine bowls and three glaciers and that’s before you get into the backcountry.

Can’t stop, won’t stop. Spring skiing

Blackcomb is staying open for skiing until May 30. Yes, May 30! That’s one long long season. Not enough? Blackcomb glacier reopens for around five to six weeks every summer for glacial skiing too.

Green is the new green

Committed to the environment that provides the terrain in which they play, Whistler Blackcomb was named as one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for the eighth consecutive year this year and are committed to becoming a zero carbon operating footprint company. The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation matches employee contributions dollar for dollar and the resort has reduced their waste by more than 60% since 2000.

Sea to Sky

The journey is just as rewarding as the destination when travelling from Vancouver to Whistler. It is all thanks to the Sea to Sky highway, a truly stunning drive or bus ride with mountains thrusting skyward from the Vancouver Harbour water’s edge.

Enchanted woods for kids

The video says it all with magic woods for kids (and their bigger kidult parents).

Spa up

Choose from a plethora of five star spas including The Fairmont Chateau Whistler and the Four Seasons or head ten minutes out of town to the Scandinave Spa for a traditional outdoor spa experience. Found within the woods, Scandinave Spa is a silent spa where guests languish in hot and cold water therapies from steam rooms to saunas, hot pools and ice cold plunge pools. Scandinave also has massage therapy and a raw food bar. Book through Skimax.com.au
