McKayos is on again this Saturday, Australia’s only event of its kind, the race sees hundreds of riders compete in a chaotic mass start on a snow-covered ski slope in Victoria’s alpine region.

McKayos is unique in tying together Falls Creek’s year-round activities – the resort is a ski resort in winter and mountain bike park in summer.

This year will be the largest McKayos by a great margin – rider numbers have increased by 100 on last year’s record to a total of 350 registered starters. With riders from all over Australia, the race is fast becoming the favourite event of the year for competitive and amateur mountain bikers alike.

The course is 15 kilometres long over a 1200 metre total descent and the race starts in Falls Creek, on snow, through the streets of the alpine village then onto single track mountain bike trails and includes a high energy stair ride in Slalom Plaza.

The race finishes on the shores of Lake Guy in Bogong Village and celebrates the end of the Falls Creek ski season.

Resort entry on the day is $20 for the day with half of this donated to Disabled Wintersports Australia.
