Park City just indefinitely closed two favourite powder bowls

If you’ve skied or boarded at Park City Mountain Resort on a powder day then chances are you’ve hit up Scott’s Bowl, skier’s left of Jupiter lift. Not any more.

Scott’s Bowl and West Scott’s Bowl, both double diamond terrain, have been indefinitely closed.

The high elevation terrain is owned by a private land owner (local KPCW media name them as Silver King Mining Company) who has for the last 14 years leased that land to Park City Mountain. The landowner has opted not to renew that lease, meaning the land is no longer available to ski.

Word is that Scott’s Bowl, West Scott’s Bowl and Constellation will most likely to remain closed for this season with the landowner still in talks with PCMR.

Interestingly KPCW also reports that the terrain known as Jupiter Bowl (some of the best in the resort) is actually owned by Alterra Mountain Company and leased to Vail Resorts.

Skiers can still access Pinecone Ridge terrain off the Quicksilver Gondola mid station. However the backcountry accessible from Park City Mountain Resort is only to be utilized from the resort’s dedicated exits at 9990 and Peak 5.

With 7300 acres of skiable terrain, there is still plenty of off piste skiing and boarding to be had.

Watch this space.
