Snow season open for business – sort of

The Australasian snow season kicked off today, or rather it limped in, but Aussies kept a sense of humour on social media.

Let’s face it, today was Coronet Peak’s day.

Some natural snow topped up with loads of snow making in recent weeks ensured enough white stuff to ensure any tussock didn’t have to be captured in photo frames and that’s a win in today’s world of social media marketing.

Add a cloud inversion and you have a winning photographic start to the season.

But a little old thing like ‘no natural snow’ didn’t stop Australia’s ski fields and guests from making the most of a less than stellar start and approaching the whole situation with trademark Australian humour style.

Great place to play football, lol @fiona_in_avalon

It wasn’t all doom and gloom, Perisher and Thredbo both managed to get the snow guns pumping overnight, ensuring some snow on the ground. Perisher even had a mini shred park open.

With snow on the way overnight we are still celebrating because we all know a slow start can still mean a bumper season.

Check out these Instagrams from Australians making the most of their long weekend at Falls Creek, Hotham, Mt Buller, Perisher and Thredbo.
