Those who know Tess Coady, the 17 year old youth world snowboard Slopestyle champion, won’t be surprised by her first FIS World Cup podium.

The Australian from Victoria won bronze today at the Snowmass FIS World Cup with 75.42. She just missed out on silver that went to Japan’s Iwabuchi Reira with 76.48. It was a hotly contended competition with gold going to kiwi Christy Prior on 77.06.

The results put Christy Prior at number two in the world on the leaderboard and Tess Coady at number five.

Watch this space as clearly Coady is one to watch in snowboard Slopestyle for Australia. She also won the SSA 2017 Rising Star of the year and the NSWIS Junior Athlete of the Year. The judges got it right on that one.

More to come.
