Australia’s most iconic downhill race takes après to the next level as Thredbo and G.H. Mumm present La Folie Douce at Top2Bottom’s 25th Birthday celebration week. Pop up bars, champagne and caviar master classes and more.

This year’s Top2Bottom race week in Thredbo is like no other. Thredbo and G.H. Mumm have upped the ante, bringing the ultimate European party experience La Folie Douce to fire up the après scene throughout the week of celebrations.

The iconic downhill race, is celebrating its 25th year on 8th August, so the action will be high paced both on and off the mountain. The race-week fun escalates with La Folie Douce, who take après to a whole new level with show stopping theatrics and high energy music that will have you dancing in your ski boots and there may even be showers of champagne.

Each year, Top2Bottom sees skiers and snowboarders battle it out for on-snow supremacy as they conquer Australia’s longest, fastest and most iconic downhill snow race in Thredbo. The race starts as the sun peeks over the horizon to allow competitors to use the full width and length of the Supertrail.

Riders line up at the top of the 3.2 kilometre course with their skis and boards in hand and run to launch line where they strap and click in for a fast-paced blast to the bottom. This is where the battle begins as riders head to the village below, dropping 600 vertical metres navigating, gates, straights and other racers – it’s adrenalin packed action.

The event draws everyday heroes as well as past and current Olympians including last year’s winner Scott Kneller and Thredbo snow ambassador, Torah Bright, who will both be competing in this year’s race. Top2Bottom features six categories including pro, women’s, amateur and veterans.

Riders must be aged 18 years or older and registration is open via the Thredbo eStore.

Thredbo visitors can also enjoy the following G.H. Mumm activities from the 6th to 9th August, 2015:

  • La Folie Douce bringing a series of free high-energy, high-altitude show-stopping performances to poolside at the Thredbo Alpine Hotel featuring dancers, DJs and divas.

  • Champagne degustation with G.H. Mumm ambassador Chris Sheehy
