The world’s best ski resorts visit Oz this month and you can meet them.

Some single names inspire images of deep powder, blue skies and good times. Like Gaga, Jacko and Beyonce, Whistler, Vail, Aspen, Thredbo and Cardrona need only one name to be instantly recognised.

Unlike Gaga, Jacko and Beyonce you CAN meet the faces of the world’s one word resorts and you don’t have to get on a plane to do it either, just let them come to you for free at the Snow Travel Expo in Melbourne at the Exhibition Centre on May 18 from 10am to 4pm and in Sydney at the White Cruise Bay Terminal in Balmain on May 25 from 9am to 4pm.

One simple gold coin donation to Disabled Winter Sports will get you through the door and into Australia’s biggest snow show.

I love this time of year when the countdown to the long weekend and the opening of the Australian season has begun. There’s always a buzz in the air with every drop in temperature.

For me, the Snow Travel Expo traditionally signifies the start of the Southern winter ski season and forward plans for the northern winter too. I get to cruise the exhibits and see old faces that I last saw last winter, will ski with this winter and not see again till next. Those snow friends bonded by a life long common interest.

It’s a great day out to gee yourself up with like minded skiers and snowboarders looking for their next snow holiday destination or to simply dream big for years to come.

This year the Snow Travel Expo welcomes over fifty resorts from around the world including Canada, USA, Japan, Korea, Europe, India, New Zealand and Australia. Whether you’re looking for intrepid backcountry, heli skiing, cat skiing or super smooth family friendly groomers there is a resort and snow travel expert on hand to give you all the information you need to help you plan your next snow sojourn.

You could also WIN a trip for two to Aspen Snowmass flying with United or to Whistler Blackcomb on Air Canada and you’ll get exclusive access to great deals from over twenty five snow travel specialists. Plus all the best ski and snowboard brands will be on hand for you to check out their gear and score some deals.

The crew behind the expo even manage to bring the snow to the city, literally, with a Snow Play Park to make snow balls and have a laugh and even a Burton Riglet Park for three to six year olds to try their hand (or feet) at snowboarding.

Add a Live Rail Jam, Siberian Huskies, a climbing wall and a jumping castle and you know the kids will be begging to stay. Which has got to be a good thing, right? You will need the time up your sleeve to gas bag to all those fellow snow lovers and check out the snow seminars centre stage on offer each day.
