Australian athletes score a gold and two silvers at the FIS World Cup at Deer Valley after a gold, a silver and two bronze at X Games in Aspen.

The Deer Valley FIS Freestyle World Cup is ‘the’ event on the freestyle competition circuit and Australia represented in a podium winning way this year – fresh off the back of Jarryd Hughes winning Snowboard X gold, Alex Pullin winning Snowboard X silver and Ben Tudhope winning Para Snowboard X bronze and Scotty James winning Halfpipe bronze at the Aspen X Games the week before.

Three Australians made the women’s aerial finals on the first day of Deer Valley competition (Samantha Wells, Dani Scott and Renee McElduff) with Samantha Wells winning her first FIS World Cup podium with a silver medal that won her the title of ‘flying watermelon’ thanks to her unique helmet.

Mogul skier, Matt Graham, took out his first gold under lights on the Thursday night on the always impressive Deer Valley mogul course.

Then Dani Scott won silver in the aerial finals on the Friday night in front of a packed crowd and we caught her and one of the team coaches sharing the joy.

Not bad for a beach loving nation south of the equator.

That’s a wrap from Deer Valley (for now).
